Director of Engineering
XpertHost is recruiting on behalf of our client, a five-star hotel delivering exceptional service and innovation in the hospitality industry. Their commitment to excellence has positioned this property as a leader in the market, and are now seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join the team and enhance their operational capabilities.
About The Role
• Lead and manage the engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
• Collaborate with the senior management team to align engineering operations with overall business objectives.
• Manage capital projects, including renovations and upgrades, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Ensure the property’s aesthetic and functional standards are consistently met or exceeded.
• Oversee energy management and sustainability initiatives, driving efficiency and cost savings.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms.
The Perfect Candidate
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
• Experience managing engineering teams within the luxury hospitality industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale maintenance operations and capital projects.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
